This beginning ensemble instroduces students to the string instruments (violin, viola and cello). Sectionals are Mondays (4-5 pm) and we meet once a week to play together as an orchestra on Thursdays )4-4:50 pm). TVYS high school mentors coach this group and students are encouraged to arrange for individual private lessons.
TVYS Junior Strings
Students are responsible for obtaining and bringing their own instruments and accessories to every session. Sectionals involve students meeting together as instrument groups and receiving instruction in technique and theory on Mondays. Thursdays all of the players are brought together and taught ensemble performance skills like following a director and playing together with rhytmic precision and musical sensitivity. Students present one concert in December and one in April.
