TVYS Junior Program

Our TVYS Junior Program introduces young musicians to the joy of playing together in ensembles. Our high school mentors coach and rehearse with our young groups to inspire higher levels of technique. We train our mentors in pedagogy and game theory, as well as introduce them to child psychology and developmental stages of learning in order to provide the most exciting opportunities for our young musicians. We encourage students to take private lessons but understand this is not always possible so we provide individual coaching for our young learners during Monday technique sectionals. We believe that the most efficient way of learning to play a musical instrument incorporates games in music theory, listening skills and motor skills. Our unique curriculum is research based and we believe in continual improvement in our methods and programs.

We accept children Kindergarten through 8th grade in this afterschool program.

Mondays (4-5 pm) and Thursdays (4-4:50 pm)

We prepare young musicians to play at the symphonic level in this preparatory orchestra. This non-auditioned group requires some mastery of their string instrument and most have been playing for more than a year.

Strings Orchestra meets as a full ensemble once a week for 45 minutes (Thursdays from 4-4:50 pm) They are coached by our TVYS high school mentors and are expected to additionally attend sentionals with their mentors once a week (Mondays from 4-5 pm)

Dear Friends and Supporters of the Tooele Valley Youth Symphony,

With full hearts and deep gratitude, we are writing to inform you that the Tooele Valley Youth Symphony (TVYS) will be closing its doors. While this marks the end of an incredible chapter, it is also a time to reflect on all the joy, growth, and wonderful memories we’ve shared together.

From our humble beginnings in 2019 to the countless rehearsals, performances, and tours, we have been inspired by the passion and talent of our young musicians, the dedication of our amazing coaches and volunteers, and the unwavering support of our community. The TVYS was created with the hope of offering young people in the Tooele Valley a chance to experience the transformative power of music, and we are proud of everything we have accomplished together.

We have celebrated incredible milestones—like our first concert honoring veterans, our successful summer tours, and the formation of our nonprofit organization. Most importantly, we’ve seen our students grow not just as musicians, but as leaders, mentors, and role models. These experiences have brought our community closer together, and we’ve been inspired by the generosity and enthusiasm from all of you.

As we bring the symphony to a close, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who has played a part in making this program so special. Your time, talent, donations, and encouragement have meant the world to us. Because of you, our young musicians have had the opportunity to dream big, work hard, and perform at their highest potential.

While our operations are coming to an end, we know that the impact of TVYS will continue to resonate in the lives of all those who were part of this journey. The lessons learned, the friendships made, and the love of music will stay with our musicians as they continue to pursue their passions in the future.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your incredible support over the years. We are so proud of what we’ve achieved together and are grateful for the opportunity to have served this amazing community through the gift of music.

With heartfelt appreciation,
